Have you ever had a soapy sponge that you just couldn’t get rinsed free of soap? Well, that’s similar to your carpet pad when you use too much R____ and other soapy cleaners and put them right into the carpet …..I know that’s what the bottle sometimes says, but if you’re like me, you may share my approach that usually says if a little is good, then a lot must be better and voila! Too much soap in the carpet backing and the spongy pad! So, what does that have to do with spots returning? Your carpet may look better and then in about a week-10 days you notice the same spot or dirty area comes back.
This is because as the carpet dries, the soapy residue left in the backing and the pad wicks to the surface of the drying carpet and then attracts dust and dirt. Even when we or another professional cleaner cleans the carpet, this can occur. If you have treated an area and this continues to happen to you, try cleaning the area only with water each time until finally the excess soap will be removed. And next time apply the cleaner to your towel, rather than pouring directly onto the carpet.
